Who Are We?
MEET THE FATHER & SON DUO
lOS DOS MOISES MENDOZAS - A LETTER FROM MOISES JR
My father’s favorite subject in school was Biology, but his parents never had the resources for him to pursue Higher Education and more specifically a career in Medicine. In fact, he had to drop out of High School in order to help provide for their home. In 1989, at the age of 18, he joined the lawn care business to support his wife (Maria), child (Angel), and other direct family members. As time went on he had three more children Luis, Moises (me!), and Flor which only meant that the responsibilities increased.
My dad has always said that working in the Houston heat has never been easy, but he has always been willing to do whatever it took to make sure that his children had opportunities that he never had. Fast forward to the present day and thanks to his hard work, all of my siblings and I graduated from High School and had the opportunity to become first-generation college students.
I have always been passionate about using education and business as a way to give back to others. In 2014 I was fortunate enough to receive the Posse Foundation Scholarship which allowed me to attend the University of Virginia on a full-ride. While at UVA, I received the highest honor that any student can receive at the university, the Gray-Carrington Memorial Award. After becoming a first-generation college graduate I taught High School math for two years, returned to UVA on another full-ride to receive my M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration/Student Affairs Practice, and then became the Dean at my former High School. I’m now pursuing my MBA at Rice University and excited for the opportunity to help grow our family business.
My father and I have had very different career paths, but one things is clear, nothing that myself, my siblings, and all other family members have accomplished would’ve been possible without my father’s dedication and sacrifice. This is why I will always say that when I accomplish something, my father is accomplishing it as well. When I graduated from High School, my father did as well. When I received the Posse Foundation Scholarship and the Gray-Carrington Memorial Award, my father did as well. When I graduated from college twice (soon to be three times), my father did as well.
Being a gardener/landscaper might not be much to many people but it’s as a gardener/landscaper that my dad has been able to change not only my life, but that of others and that of future generations to come. I believe that it’s now my turn to give back and support him for as long as I can. This is why we have now partnered to build this family owned business that focuses on helping take care of homes in more ways than one. I hope that you will allow us the opportunity to be part of your journey and continue to practice something that has provided my family with so much light and joy.
With love,
Moy

Moises has been taking care of my family’s home for several years now. From cutting our grass every other week, to trimming down trees, to planting new flowers during the spring, to saving our backyard from weeds, to picking up leaves every Fall, to even helping us restore dead grass, he has never failed us and our family is grateful to have him as our landscaper throughout all this time! His experience is unmatched and recommend him to anyone and everyone.
